IMEP Introduces Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme for Members
The Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation Practitioners (IMEP–Ghana) has officially introduced a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework for all its members, marking a major step in strengthening professionalism, competence, and ethical practice within the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) field.
As M&E practice becomes more complex—driven by demands for accountability, results-based management, digital innovation, and evidence-informed decision-making—IMEP recognises that professional learning cannot stop at certification. The new CPD framework ensures that members continuously update their knowledge, sharpen their skills, and remain aligned with emerging global and national best practices
Why CPD Matters at IMEP
The CPD programme is designed to promote lifelong learning and to safeguard the credibility of the M&E profession. Under the framework, CPD is mandatory for all IMEP members, across Student, Practitioner, Certified, and Fellow categories. Members are required to accumulate a specified number of CPD points annually, depending on their membership level.
CPD points can be earned through a wide range of approved activities, including:
• Technical trainings and certificate programmes
• Webinars, conferences, and professional forums
• Sub-group participation and leadership roles
• Research, publications, and knowledge sharing
• Wellness and community engagement activities
This flexible yet structured approach allows members to grow professionally while remaining actively engaged in IMEP’s communities of practice
Linking CPD to Membership Progression
Participation in CPD is now a core requirement for:
• Membership renewal
• Progression across practitioner levels
• Professional certification and chartering
• Fellowship consideration
To ensure transparency and accountability, members are required to record their CPD activities in the IMEP CPD Tracking System and provide verifiable evidence such as certificates of participation, attendance records, or publications. Non-compliance may result in inactive membership status or delayed progression
Strengthening Practice through Sub-Groups
IMEP’s mandatory sub-groups serve as the primary CPD delivery platforms, offering technical sessions, peer learning, applied practice, and leadership opportunities. Active participation in these sub-groups not only enhances professional competence but also contributes directly to members’ annual CPD requirements.
Building a Future-Ready M&E Profession
With the introduction of the CPD framework, IMEP reinforces its commitment to building a disciplined, ethical, and highly competent M&E profession. The initiative ensures that IMEP members do not merely hold professional titles, but continuously demonstrate excellence, relevance, and impact in their practice.
The CPD programme represents a clear message from IMEP: professional membership comes with professional responsibility—and continuous growth is non-negotiable.
