IMEP (Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation Practitioners – Ghana) is a professional body dedicated to promoting excellence, professionalism, and ethical practice in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) through training, certification, advocacy, and continuous professional development.

IMEP membership is open to:

• Students and early-career professionals
• Practising M&E officers, researchers, evaluators, and consultants
• Public sector, NGO, donor, and private sector professionals
• Organisations committed to strengthening M&E systems

IMEP offers three main categories:

• Student Membership
• Professional (Practitioner) Membership
• Corporate Membership

Members gain access to:

• Mandatory sub-groups (Communities of Practice)
• Networking and career opportunities
• Professional recognition and credibility

Yes. IMEP welcomes professionals from diverse backgrounds who are involved in or interested in Monitoring, Evaluation, research, performance management, or evidence-based decision-making.

IMEP offers a structured practitioner certification pathway with five levels:

1. Foundations
2. Advanced
3. Associate
4. Certified
5. Fellow

Progression is based on qualifications, experience, training, and examinations.

IMEP certification is designed to meet national and international professional standards and is recognised across public sector, NGO, donor-funded, and consulting environments.

Only Certified (CMEP) and Fellow (FIMEP) members may practise independently, supervise trainees, and represent IMEP professionally.

CPD (Continuing Professional Development) ensures that members continuously update their skills, knowledge, and ethical standards. CPD is mandatory for all IMEP members.

Annual CPD requirements range from 10 to 35 points, depending on membership level.

CPD points can be earned through:

• Trainings and certificate courses
• Webinars and conferences
• Sub-group participation and leadership
• Research, publications, and presentations
• Wellness and community engagement activities

Non-compliance may result in inactive membership status, delayed progression, or suspension until CPD requirements are met.

Sub-groups are mandatory Communities of Practice where members specialise, learn, and earn CPD points.

Yes. Every member must belong to at least one (1) sub-group and may belong to no more than two (2).

Yes. IMEP runs short, practical certificate programmes in areas such as:

• Results-Based Management
• Data Collection & Survey Methods
• Impact Evaluation
• GIS for M&E
• Digital Monitoring & Evaluation
• M&E Professional Practice & Ethics

Yes. All approved IMEP certificate courses attract CPD points.

Yes. IMEP periodically offers opportunities for volunteers, data collectors, and research assistants to support M&E projects.

Volunteer opportunities are advertised on the IMEP website under Careers & Opportunities. Applications are submitted via email or online forms, as indicated.

Corporate Membership is for organisations seeking to strengthen internal M&E capacity, staff skills, and evidence-based decision-making.

Corporate Members receive:

• Priority access to training and certification
• Discounted staff enrolment
• Technical advisory support
• Visibility and recognition as IMEP partners

Members may pay dues quarterly, semi-annually, or annually under IMEP’s flexible instalment renewal plan

Membership is valid for one calendar year and must be renewed annually, subject to CPD compliance.
