 The Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation Practitioners (IMEP) is now accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations for the 1st Annual Conference and Expo in Accra, Dec. 2 – 3, 2023. Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts on the meeting theme — “Monitoring and Evaluation: Leading the Path Toward Equity and Sustainable Development”

IMEP 2023 focuses on how the diversity of work research methodologies, approaches, traditions and cultures contributes to innovations in Monitoring and Evaluation practice and policy, and to social and sustainable development more broadly, at local, regional, national, and international levels. Researchers, scholars, practitioners and students are invited to submit abstracts for the below proposal types.

1.     ORAL PAPER PRESENTATION

The oral paper presentation may be authored by an individual or by a group. The abstract should be in line with the main theme of the conference and linked to the conference’s sub-themes. The oral presentations will be grouped in parallel sessions based on the sub-themes. The abstract submitted should be 350 words maximum. More information about the abstract is provided below.

  Abstracts must use the following outline (with the exception of case reports):

  • Introduction and aims
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion and conclusion
  • Monitoring and Evaluation Lessons Learnt

   For case reports ONLY use the following section headings:

  • Introduction
  • Case Summary
  • Conclusion
  • Monitoring and Evaluation Lessons Learnt
2.      POSTER PRESENTATION

The poster presentation may be created by an individual or by a group and is to be displayed on a portable wall. At times, the author(s) of the poster will accompany it, to answer questions that people have. To apply for a poster presentation, the author(s) must submit an abstract of a maximum of 350 words.

3.      WORKSHOP

A self-organized seminar of one or more presentations relevant to the conference theme/sub-themes. Workshops are intended to be thoroughly interactive with considerable participation and discussion from those attending. Workshops may have an explicit agenda of training participants on a given topic or of generating an interest group or a network for future collaboration. If applying for a workshop, please submit an abstract of 500 words or less including a description of the content and how it will be delivered (pedagogical methods, etc.).

 SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

All abstracts must be relevant to the central conference theme and/or sub-themes. Preference will be given to abstracts that are strongly linked to the conference theme and/or sub-themes, so we encourage authors to show this explicitly. Please note that authors may submit a maximum of three abstracts as follows: one abstract of which they are the main author and two abstracts of which they are a co-author.

All abstracts must be submitted via email to: imep2023@gmail.com  All abstracts will be acknowledged within 3 days of submission.

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by an international panel. Decisions will be notified by 30th of September 2023 to the e-mail address provided by the authors when registering. If you have not had a confirmation of receipt within 7 days of your submission, please contact the Abstract Secretariat at imep2023@gmail.com

  The conference sub-themes can also be presented in the context below:

  • M and E research, policy, practice or education across boundaries – including across national, social, cultural, disciplinary and professional boundaries;
  • Exploring the impact and effectiveness of M and E research practice;
  • M and E history and identity as a profession and discipline;
  • Theorizing M and E and/or M and E research;
  • Connecting M and E research and practice, including co-creation of knowledge;
  • Methodological development, innovation and capacity building in social work research.

Information to note

  • The decision of the Reviewers on the acceptability of the submission is final.
  • While preferences for oral or poster presentation will be considered, the Reviewers may offer the alternative format.
  • ALL PRESENTING AUTHORS MUST REGISTER AS DELEGATES WITHOUT EXCEPTION and the submission of an abstract serves as confirmation of the presenter’s availability to attend and pay for being at the Conference.
  • Conference fee is Two Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHC 250.00)
  • Instructions on the timings and duration of oral presentations and the format and size of posters will be given in the result correspondence which will be issued by mid-September 2023 if not earlier. If you have not received a result by the end of September 2023, please contact the Conference Office. If an abstract cannot be presented at the Conference, the Conference office must be notified in writing in advance to avoid compromise to the professionalism of the event.
  • The IMEP 2023 Reviewers reserve the right to accept or refuse an abstract, to designate abstracts as either oral or poster presentations and to choose a suitable session for the abstract.
  • Declaration of Consent to Publication and Assignation of Copyright:
    By submitting an abstract the authors collectively accept the following:

I confirm that I checked this abstract before submission and that all information is correct. I accept that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and I am aware that it will be published exactly as submitted.  Submission of the abstract constitutes my consent to publication (e.g. conference website, programs, other promotions, etc.)  The Abstract Submitter warrants and represents that he/she is the sole owner or has the rights of all the information and content (“Content”) provided to IMEP 2023 Conference. The publication of the abstract does not infringe any third-party rights including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights.  The Abstract Submitter grants the Conference Office a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display the content.  The Conference Office reserves the right to remove from any publication an abstract which does not comply with the above.  The corresponding author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract.
